Easy to grow and great in salads, the Butterhead Optima Lettuce variety brings beautiful flavor and is extremely hardy. Butterhead Optima Lettuce is a darker green butterhead variety. Big framed and thick leaved, this variety is very resistant to downy mildew, bottom rot and tip-burn. It's recommended to directly plant Butterhead Optima Lettuce seeds outdoors 2 weeks before the last spring frost date and up to 2 - 6 weeks after the last spring frost date. You can also replant 8 - 12 weeks before the first fall frost date. Placing: Partial Sun Planting Depth: 1/4-inch. Spacing: 6 - 8-inch. Grandpa Cecil was very active in local gardening communities and clubs - always ready and willing to share his gardening knowledge, making him the Original Master Gardener.
