Sweet Marjoram (Majorana Hortensis) - Marjoram or sweet marjoram is a tender perennial (will die with very hard frost) in the mint family that grows wild in the Mediterranean region from herb seeds. The leaves and flowers of sweet marjoram and used to give a sweet and spicy flavor to a wide variety of foods. Plant Marjoram herb seeds in well-drained soil, full sun, and room to spread. Cut the plant back if it becomes woody, and it will re-grow. It can be used fresh or dried by spreading in a cool, well-ventilated place. Marjoram grows to a height of about 12 to 18 inches, somewhat smaller than oregano. The flowers are generally a shade of pink.
